Turner & Townsend brings global rail experience to METRONET
Turner & Townsend has been appointed by the METRONET office to provide a Program Management Office across the METRONET program of works.
The team will bring extensive local and international transport and PMO experience to the program.
METRONET is a landmark transportation and land use planning programme and an integral part of the vision for Perth’s future. It is Perth’s most ambitious programme of rail projects to date, with Stage One delivering approximately 72 kilometres of new passenger rail and up to 18 new stations. The programme will also turn more than 5,000 hectares of land around new stations to desirable places for investment in housing, jobs and services for growing communities.
The PMO will support the METRONET Office on broader programme requirements programme including the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, Yanchep Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link.
Anooj Oodit, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand comments: “We bring global transport experience, strong local knowledge and insights into international best practice into this important national infrastructure programme.
“The socio-economic development of the Western Australian region will be considerable. We look forward to playing a major part in delivering a safe, sustainable, cost-effective and timely solution for Perth’s transport network.”
Matt Billingham, Western Australia Managing Director comments: “The opportunity to work on transport developments of this scale in Western Australia is significant. The network will stimulate economic growth, provide employment opportunities, lay the groundwork for vibrant new communities and greatly improve the lives of the population living in Western Australia.
“Our PMO team brings the latest industry developments and lessons learned on legacy projects to the programme. They will be shared with METRONET and benefit the programme by creating an environment of continuous improvement, active engagement and a dynamic approach to project innovation across all known and unknown challenges, opportunities and interfaces.”
The Company has also been appointed by the Public Transport Authority to provide quantity surveying and cost estimation services for METRONET.
