Major railway contract signing for Implenia and ACCIONA

The joint venture of Implenia and ACCIONA has signed the contract for the project Sandbukta – Moss – Såstad.

The project is awarded by Bane NOR, and is a part of their InterCity plan. The contract is worth €650 million.

The project includes a 10.3 km, twin-track line, some of which will run above ground. The new line also requires the JV to build two tunnels, each longer than 2 km, two shorter cut-and-cover sections, a tunnel portal and a new train station with 800 m-long platforms and a pedestrian bridge.

Implenia and ACCIONA have come together in a fully integrated joint venture, with a technical lead for Implenia. The joint venture will be named “MossIA ANS” and name and logo will be presented and visible at the project.

“We are extremely pleased to win this contract and become part of the InterCity infrastructure project. We look forward to contributing the knowledge and skills we have gained in other large-scale projects, and to be working with ACCIONA,” said Audun Aaland, Implenia’s Country President Norway.

“We are very pleased to have been selected, along with our partner Implenia, to develop this new railway project. This award reinforces ACCIONA’s position in Norway, a key market for our Company. Based on our successful previous experience with Bane NOR´s management team and their professionalism, we strongly believe that we will be able to develop and finish this great complex project with the best possible results. ACCIONA, in collaboration with Implenia, hopes to contribute to the InterCity initiative, developed by BaneNor, with the experience with which approaches all its projects,” said Huberto Moreno, Managing director of the construction Business at ACCIONA.

Construction work begins in October 2019 and should be completed by May 2025.
