The 25th anniversary Prodexpo opened its doors
Prodexpo 2018, the 25th international exhibition of food, beverages and food raw materials, opened its doors at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
Many honoured guests attended the opening ceremony to congratulate this major food show on its anniversary, among them representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, deputies of the Russian Parliament, heads of Russian regions, representatives of government agencies and businessmen, heads of industry associations, and official representatives of foreign countries.
At the Prodexpo 2018 opening ceremony, Deputy General Director of Expocentre AO Mikhail Tolkachev expressed his appreciation to the companies which supported the idea to hold the first Prodexpo exhibition in 1994. "At that time the number of Russian companies did not exceed 1/6 of all participants, said Mikhail Tolkachev. In recent years Russian companies dominate at the trade show and make 2/3 of all participants."
The 25th-anniversary Prodexpo participants are 2,342 companies from 63 countries. Russian participants amount to 1,659. This year 14 Russian regions organised their group stands.
Mikhail Tolkachev thanked foreign companies for their participation in the trade show. According to him, international participants "see consumer value of Prodexpo and choose it as the right place to enter the Russian market". 31 countries participate with their national pavilions. The largest pavilion featuring 45 companies is organised by Italy. Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Dominican Republic, and Nepal first organised their national pavilions.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yevgeny Gromyko addressed the Prodexpo participants with a welcome message from Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachyov. The message says that over 25 years Prodexpo has become Russia's largest trade show. Year after year the trade show becomes more prestigious, the exhibitors show the best products, latest achievements and technologies. Prodexpo is accompanied by many supporting events which help to identify key trends in the development of the food market.
"Prodexpo has a great future. Many foreign exhibitors at Prodexpo 2018 shows a growing interest of our foreign partners in the Russian food market," said Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Mikhail Schetinin.
Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kashin noted the achievements made by the Russian agricultural sector and priorities of its development. He thanked the Prodexpo organisers and encouraged Russian regional authorities to use opportunities provided by "this cornerstone and one of the largest in Europe food shows."
Head of the State Duma Committee for Regional Policy and Problems of the North and Far East Nikolay Kharitonov said, "This exhibition in a necessary and important step towards the development of the Russian food industry. It will help in the search for new and effective ways to accelerate development and increase the productivity of all sectors of the Russian food industry, and promote cooperation of agricultural producers, processing and intermediary companies."
Minister of Agriculture of Hungary Sandor Fazekas congratulated the exhibition with its 25th anniversary and said that it offered Hungarian producers a great chance to show their products.
Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which provides its auspices to the exhibition, Maxim Fateev addressed all exhibitors and talked about the importance of participation of Russian regional food and beverage manufacturers in it.
Governor of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzi, Moldova, Irina Vlah, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Stavropol Territory Andrey Murga and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Andrey Razin also talked about the importance of Russian regional enterprises in Russia’s largest food trade show.
The 25th edition of Prodexpo is open in all pavilions of Expocentre Fairgrounds from 5th – 9th February 2018.
